So, my latest project has included working on converting my fanfiction, titled Unforgiven, into an original piece set in the Chains of Fate Universe. I'm almost done with the initial conversion, of which you can read the first chapter here. It's unedited and still rough around the edges, but you can get a feel for how the book is going to be. I may be partnering up with Kenyon again on this one, we'll see how everything works out. The cover for Unforgiven Souls will be the next project I set my artist to work on. As usual, it should be spectacular.
There are all kinds of things to do when converting a fanfic into an original. It takes a lot of alterations to the characters to give them their very own personality beyond that which was given for the fanfic version. More than hair color and eye color has to change, but you can keep certain elements of the way the fanfic was written. Of course, this all depends on how much creative licence was taken with the characters to start with. For Unforgiven, a lot of the characters were made very vivid in their personalities and they became separate from their canon counterparts.
